About Me!
I am a professional performer from Glasgow, Scotland.
I originally came from classical background training at Scottish Opera, Scotland’s National Opera Company. Continuing my journey in theatre, I moved down to London and after 3 years of training, in 2018, received a first Class Honours Degree in Musical Theatre from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Since graduating I have continued training in Estill Vocal Technique and have began a new journey in songwriting.
Musical theatre has played such a huge role in my life, and I have a desire to help train the next generation of performers.
Everyone learns differently. Living with dyslexia, I have found and develop new and creative ways of learning.
My teaching style strives to meet each students needs through an innovative and personal approach.
As an instructor, I aims to have a positive impact on my students. I create a safe space to make mistakes, while developing an understanding of the voice and theatre industry.
Professional Experience
I have a strong passion for performing and sharing what I have learnt along the way. As a current performer, you will benefit from my knowledge and experiences to learn the ins and outs of today’s industry.
My first professional debut was cast as the lead role, Dorothy, in a modern version of The Wizard of Oz, Directed by Phil Wilmott and production by Gods and Monsters Theatre Co. In this rep season I was also cast as a feisty Scottish knight, Gawynn, in King Arthur, a more classical play.
The rehearsal space was indoors however their performances were at The Scoop Open Air Theatre, at London Bridge. i learnt a lot about how to use your voice in different spaces - open air being more challenging to work with. This experience taught me, first hand, which techniques to apply in different environments.
Moving in quite a different direction, I was cast as a lead role for an immersive, contemporary pop, coming-of-age, comedy musical, Club Mex. Performed at the Hopemill Theatre, directed by West End star Julie Atherton and with Perfect Pitch, the producers as Six: The Musical. Vocal range and stamina were crucial in this production and truly taught me the importance of vocal health.
I continued with the immersive experience, although this time I was travelling around the Western Caribbean with Norwegian Cruise line. I played a Lead Role for an interactive 80’s rock show, called Syd Normans Pour House, directed by the original producers and directors of “Rock of Ages'' on Broadway.
In rehearsals we had to learn 100 songs in the space of 10 days. As you can imagine my brain was fried, but I learnt different tricks to help digest large amounts of information quickly. When auditioning these tricks come in handy, because you’ll never know how much material will be thrown at you.
We had nightly performances that were high energy and rock belting. I learnt it was okay to have “off” nights and to remember we are only human. Like an athlete we must train, listen to our bodies, and know our limits.
